What is a limited-edition print?A limited-edition print, means the print run is limited only to a specific number of copies. I check, hand-sign, number, and emboss-stamp each individual print to order. In the bottom left margin, you will see two hand-written numbers: E.g., 10/400, The top number identifies the print number (10), and the bottom is how many prints will be produced in the run of this edition (of 400). For provenance and information on the backstory of the print subject, each print includes a printed 'Certificate of Authenticity', which I hand-sign and emboss-stamp, and include with the print.
-

-
What’s a remarque?A remarque is an artist's original pencil sketch on a limited-edition print, enhancing the print's value and collectability, offering a unique piece of original hand-drawn artwork. I seal my remarqued drawings using a professional fixative to protect the drawing against pencil smudging.
-
Do your prints include a certificate?Yes. For provenance and information on the backstory of the print subject, each print includes a printed 'Certificate of Authenticity', which I personally hand-sign and emboss stamp.
-
Does the print size refer to the size of paper or the image size? The 'print size' refers to the dimensions of the printing paper, and not the image area: A3 = 420 x 297 mm (16.5 x 11.7 inches) A2 = 594 x 420 mm (23.4 x 16.5 inches)
-
My print appears slightly different from what I saw on the website. Is my giclée print faulty? No. There isn't a printing fault. Giclée prints are faithful reproductions carefully calibrated to match the original artwork. Can I clean my giclée print?I don’t recommend cleaning the actual print, other than a light dust, using a clean, white, dry, soft, lint-free cloth or a photographer’s lens brush in a light motion, to gently wipe off dust. To avoid staining the giclée, do not clean it with a dirty or dark-coloured cloth. Never try to clean a giclée print with any liquid, compound, a damp cloth, water, or solvents, or be tempted to use an iron, steam, or introduce moisture to flatten it - as this will definitely damage it! Never vacuum or use stiff brushes or abrasive cloths, as the surface of the print is delicate and may be scratched and the paper easily creased.
-
How do I flatten-out my giclée print after delivery?1. Find a surface that is flat, smooth, and hard. Clean it of any dirt and particles that might damage your print. 2. Unpack the tube, carefully remove both tube end caps. Your print is wrapped in a sealed cello bag and rolled inside the postal tube. 3. Carefully remove the rolled print from the postal tube, gently holding the ends and around the middle of the print. 4. With the print still sealed in the cello bag, lay the print, image-side down, on the flat prepared surface. 5. Open the bag seal and remove the Certificate of Authenticity. Then reseal the cello bag. 6. Lay a few clean and dry objects that are smooth, flat, and heavy - books are perfect to cover the print. 7. Let your giclée print relax overnight - if it still isn’t flat when you remove the books, replace them for a few more hours.
-
How do I look after giclée prints?Giclée prints should be for in the same way as an original piece of art. This means that dirt, dust, moisture, oils, adhesives, solvents, heat, and anything that could scratch, dent, or crease the paper should all be avoided when you are handling your print. The surface of a giclée print is delicate and easily scratched, so I recommend leaving it sealed in the cello bag, until you have it professionally framed. Always request acid-free picture mounts and UV-protective glazing when framing. Always hang or store prints away from direct sunlight, moisture, and dust.
-
How do I clean an original oil painting? The easiest way to remove a thin layer of dust, grime or residue is with a soft cloth and soapy water. Due to its low pH level and mild properties, olive oil-based soap is often considered the most effective soap to use. Make sure you don't use anything that contains alcohol or solvents, as this could remove some of the paint.
-
How do I prevent thrips (Thunder flies) getting into my frame? The frame package should be properly sealed to prevent insects from entering the frame and consuming the artwork or framing materials. To prevent damage, create a sealed environment from the glass to the under mount, creating a microclimate for the artwork. If professional framing is recommended, however, ensure the framer will be sealing the frame package to prevent insects from entering.
